There are a few places in Downtown San Diego that we at Oakwood Escrow find a little more enjoyable in the summertime. Check out these awesome places and try to enjoy at least one of them before summer comes to an end!
Seaport Village
Located on the San Diego Bay, Seaport Village is a great place to go with friends or the family to enjoy some local shops and vendors with a nice ocean breeze. From a Christmas shop that’s open year round to surf shops and a store dedicated to hot sauce, you can find almost anything while venturing through Seaport Village. On the grassy area outside the shops, treat yourself to a henna tattoo or get your palm read on the weekends. Stay around later in the day to watch the incredible sunset after enjoying a walk around the village.

USS Midway Museum
Take a step back in time to the 1940s when the USS Midway began its journey in the Cold War. This ship played a key role in the Cold War and had the first air kill of the Vietnam War in the 60s. Explore around this old, historical ship and see all aspects and quarters of the ship. Start at the top deck, where you can see and go inside of some old war planes, then make your way through the tight hallways under the ship where you can find the crew’s sleeping quarters, their dining area, the captain’s room, training rooms, etc. There’s so much history waiting to be discovered once you step aboard the USS Midway.

House of Blues San Diego
Nothing says summer nights like going out to a concert with your friends. House of Blues San Diego provides the perfect intimate concert space for you to enjoy your favorite artists up close and personal. With just a small dance floor, get ready to dance your nights away with live music, drinks, and a venue full of people who love the same music as you. Not to mention, there’s a restaurant attached, which is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before heading to your concert!

Petco Park
Summertime calls for warm nights under the stadium lights. Head over to Petco Park to watch the San Diego Padres play ball before summer ends! Enjoy food from Phil’s BBQ, Hodad’s, or any of the vendors inside the ballpark while watching the game. Let the kids run around at the Park in the Park, and stay after the game for the Post-Game Fireworks Show on August 18th for a summer night to remember!
